The workshop will be a one day presentation of direct application Moxa skills, both Chinetsukyu (Heat perception Cone moxa) and Tonetskyu (Rice grain and thread moxa), for a range of Musculo – skeletal problems of both a deficient and an excess, hot and cold nature.

Moxa is a subtle, gentle yet profoundly powerful tool to use in therapeutic circumstances, particularly for recalcitrant conditions that haven’t responded to previous treatment or only offered a partial response.

The first part of the day will consist of some basic theory (no previous knowledge of Chinese medical theory required) and some differential palpation skills.

The second part will consist of the practice and clinical application of the Moxa skills.

Moxa is an easy skill to learn and anyone can do it.

All participants will walk away with a tool that they will use time and time again to great and lasting effect.

The Moxa Workshop Presenter

Nick Hilton has been working as a therapist for the past 25 years. Initially working from an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy 1987 he focused primarily on bodywork from the physical to the metaphysical.

Operating a fee free practice for the first 20 of those years he was exposed to a wide range of conditions and found his preferred work primarily in conditions that had failed to respond elsewhere and the terminally ill.

From this exposure and experience his understanding of the energetics of the human form drew him to Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine.

In returning to formal study (Bachelor of Health Science Acupuncture 2007) he was privileged to have been mentored by practitioners of an energetic Qigong style of Acupuncture of which Moxibustion was an integral part.

Finding a personal affinity with the practice of Moxibustion he has since taught it to anyone who has the interest to learn and practice, from all sorts of therapeutic backgrounds, including other Acupuncturists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Massage therapists and Clinic assistants.
